Slackwood Volunteer Fire Company 100th Anniversary Parade

October 6th 2007 Fire Companies throughout the Mercer County area gathered at Slackwood Volunteer Fire Company to celebrate 100 years of service to the residents of Lawrence Township.  A three mile parade down Princeton Pike and a heart wrenching memorial service followed.  In remembrance of five courageous Fire Fighters who suffered a  Line of Duty Death in 1934 Slackwood's Chief Oakley retired box alarm assignment number 21-10.  In 1986 Slackwood suffered another Line of Duty Death.  The death occurred in  Lawrence Road Fire Companies local.  Lawrence Road Chief Farletta and Chief Oakley fittingly retired box alarm 22-10.  Brush 53, Marine 53-1, Engine 53, and Tanker 53 participated in the parade.
