Hydrant Operations & Elevated Master Stream

May 29, 2007  members from the Union Fire Company drilled on a hot summer evening on hdrant operations and supplying the elevated master stream on Telesquirt 53.  Telesquirt 53 pulled to the end of a street and prepared to go into service with it's elevated master stream.  The on board 500 gallon booster tank was used initially to supply the elevated master stream.  1:30 seconds after going in service with the master stream the water supply was depleted.  Engine 53 was on hand to perform a reverse lay-out to a hydrant.  A hydrant assist valve was used to supply water to the Telesquirt approximately 500 feet away.  Participants were then taught the uses and proper operation of the hydrant assist valve.  The proper connections were made to the pump on the Engine.  Participants learned the importance of a self sustaining water supply when supplying an elevated master stream.
